Investment Update from John Snowden for The IRS Report

May 2010: Begbies Traynor Group (Epic: BTG)

The shares have hovered a couple of points above the stop-loss for some time. The company was originally featured as a protection against a falling market, which worked quite well until a year ago when the market turned higher. As a boring business full of accountants picking up the debris from broken companies, one might have expected a little more life in the shares as they have expanded the business and trading remains satisfactory.

However in the pre-election fall out on 5th May, the shares dipped below the stop to 75p only to rally back up to 79p as a director bought 62,500 shares at 79p on 4th May and pushed the share price above the stop by the close of business. The following day, the shares drifted back again to below the stop to 74p-75p and have stayed below. The shares will be treated as stopped out at 77p.
